Military Training

Military_Climbing_and_Mountaineering_TrainingFox Mountain Guides has been working with many facets of the military for over a decade here in the Southeast but also with units based elsewhere in the USA such as Colorado and California. We have for the past few years attended annual meetings at Fort Bragg where we have been involved in mountain training for Special Forces and Reconnaissance teams that are now working in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan. We specialize in creating custom built mountaineering and climbing rescue training programs from a few days to multiple weeks and can offer any mountain or high angle rescue training required anywhere in the USA.

We have created specific military mountaineering training programs, working with single personal and whole units, two day programs through to ten days. We create the training to fit your needs.

Not only has Fox Mountain Guides have over a decade of experience working with Military Mountaineering training but we are also the only American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Accredited Program in the Southeast.  For our military mountaineering training programs we only use our head Guides, whom hold AMGA Rock Instructor or AMGA Rock Guide Certification. We are the only program in the Southeast region that can offer instructors with this level of credentials and experience.

In 2009 we partnered with Misty Mountain Threadworks to test and develop harnesses and equipment for military mountaineering. Misty Mountain Threadworks have created unique, custom made harnesses for military applications that we continue to test and refine on our military training programs.

We have offered mountaineering training for the following military groups:
  • Special Forces, 3rd and 7th Group
  • 82nd Airborne
  • Marine Corps
  • Army Rangers

"Fox Mountain Guides provided our unit with expert mountaineering training. Using Fox allowed our teams to train together using practical and modern techniques to negotiate mountainous terrain without the administrative requirements and restrictions of a military course. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend Fox to any military unit especially those working in small teams with a non-conventional mission set."
