Multi Pitch Rescue Course Print E-mail

Advanced Level Course

You're belaying your friend on the diagonal second pitch of Sundial Cracks on Looking Glass Rock as an afternoon thunderstorm is moving in quicker than you estimated and it starts to rain. Your friend slips and takes a 30ft tumbling lead fall. He now hangs unresponsive and motionless about 80ft above, 40ft to the right of you and about 140ft from the ground. You have minutes to save your friends life. What would you do?

This course looks at more complex techniques required to successfully and efficiently rescue your partner in multipitch terrain. Topics include rescuing the injured lead climber, evacuation from more than one rope length off the ground, and more advanced mechanical advantage raising systems.  This course is a ‘must do’ for any climber that climbs multipitch routes as a leader or second.

“This course is one of my favorites to teach and is based largely on the rescue curriculum I teach on AMGA Guide programs and the Military rescue training courses that Fox Mountain Guides does. I guarantee every climber will walk away with valuable skills and new techniques”. –Adam Fox

Topics Covered:

  • Rescuing the injured leader in the single and multipitch environment
  • Weighted transitions (rappelling multiple pitches with an unconscious climber)
  • Counterbalanced and tandem rappels
  • Weighted transitions (rappelling multiple pitches with an unconscious climber)

Recomendations

"How can I learn to climb? I asked all around Charlotte and I got the same answer from Jessie Browns, Inner Peaks and Great Outdoor Prov. Co. All three said to contact Fox Mountain Guides because they were the best out there. So with 3 Fox brochures in hand I called to schedule the Rock Climbing 101 Course. I then took the Single Pitch Lead Course and then the ‘Master Class’ in December from Adam himself. It's been the best money I've spent for climbing yet!"
