Rock Climbing 201-Rock Climbing Anchors and Gear Placement

Foundation Level Course

Multipitch Climbing Chimney Rock ParkThis two day course is all about anchors and gear placement. Students will learn to build a variety of anchors from simple two bolt setups to more complex anchors using natural and artificial components. A significant part of the course will be devoted to learning to place and clean gear like cams, nuts, tricams, and hexes.

As with all our programs the course will be based from our headquarters in Pisgah Forest, NC (unless otherwise arranged). This will give access to our classroom and workshop, equipped with digital projector for PowerPoint presentations, ‘gear placement rock wall’ in the workshop, WiFi, and climbing library. It’s a perfect environment for lectures at the start and end of the day and another factor that sets Fox Mountain Guides training courses apart from the rest.

Our courses are taught by professional, credentialed instructors that hold AMGA Certification. These instructors have worked as a team to create and continually improve our course curriculum to ensure you will be gaining the most up to date information out there. Our goal is to empower you with the skills and knowledge to climb safely and efficiently whenever you are on the rock.

“I started doing courses and private guiding with you guys one year ago. I had never climbed anything outside in my life. Now, I lead multipitch rock and ice, and I take my friends climbing too” -John Wallis
