Karsten passed the AMGA Certified Rock Guide exam in April 2009 becoming the second guide in the Southeast to achieve this certification. He has also successfully completed the AMGA Alpine Guides Course in May 2009 but is not yet an AMGA Certified Alpine Guide. Karsten has taken the AMGA Ice Instructor Course, is a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT), Leave No Trace Masters Educator and has completed the AIRIE Level II Avalanche Course. Karsten is in the Instructor Pool for the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor and Climbing Wall Instructor programs. |




Originally from the flat lands of Indiana, Karsten Delap has found his obsession in the mountains. He has climbed extensively throughout the United States including Grade V big walls in The Black Canyon, Long's Peak, and Zion National Park. Karsten's passion as of late has turned to big alpine pursuits. He has climbed many peaks over 17,000ft in Bolivia and Ecuador as well as guided major alpine objectives in Africa. Karsten will spend this January in New Zealand's high alpine terrain.
