Warrior's Way Falling and Commitment Camp, KY

This camp addresses fear of falling and improving commitment. We'll practice falling, movement, and resting exercises and apply all learned skills to a challenging route that suites your climbing ability. We will do this in small increments creating appropriate progressions for each individual student. You'll leave with a structured method for taking appropriate risks with diminished fear. This course will be incredibly beneficial if you are starting your lead climbing career or wishing to improve your climbing grade and ability! This course is offered by Fox Mountain Guides in conjunction with Arno Ilgner and The Warriors Way. This class will be taught by Tracy Martin.  You’ll Learn How: To fall safely To give a cushioned belay To distinguish between no- and yes-fall zones How to engage no- and yes-fall zones To break a climb into smaller risk events Better risk assessment How to rest effectively To improve breathing To trust the body To create flow and momentum To commit more deliberately To reduce fear Target Student For climbers who wish to improve their leading ability or start leasing sport or traditional climbs. Most exercises are on top rope. The instructor will determine which students can lead based on our risk matrix. Student Goals A desire to improve commitment, lead climbs, or overcome fear of falling. Course Prerequisites Applicants must have taken our Single Pitch Lead Course or equivalent, or have been climbing consistently for at least six months and can top rope 5.8 climbs at a minimum. Rock Climbing 201 Course, NC

This two day course is ideal for climbers wanting to learn more advanced skills such as gear placement and building anchors with artificial gear (Stoppers, Cams, Hex's Tri-Cams, etc) and to look at some basic necessary skills such as self rescue and problem avoidance in single pitch climbing.
