Don't just take our word for it, listen to some of our satisfied clients!
Dear John,
I just wanted to let you know that Ron Funderburke was an excellent rock climbing guide in the Linville Gorge last weekend for my friend Melissa and I. He made us feel very safe considering the complexities of multipitch rock climbing with a couple of strangers. He delivered exactly what we were looking for and we were very impressed. I would recommend your service without any hesitation especially with any trip into the Linville gorge area with Ron. Anthony Figuera
Hi Ron,
I wanted to let you know that Ryan is an
excellent instructor and has incredible patience!!!! Felica & I
spent all day Saturday with him and had a blast! Also, I had
spoken to both Jeremiah & Ron several times and they both were
always very pleasant & professional. You have a wonderful group
of people in your company!!!
We had a climb with Jeremiah on Sunday and it was awesome!!! He was a great guide, if we come back up I would like to request him again, or refer others to him! Thank you. Beth Moore
I wanted you to know that you made a huge impression on my family. We just got back from a trip to Utah where we spent 3 days in Zion National Park. One day was spent canyoneering and while the adventure was great, your guide service was much better. Everyone in my family commented on the different techniques used by you and your guides. Specifically, we all felt that the safety precautions were much better with Fox Mountain Guides. As I said, you made a big impression on everyone in my family and I am thankful that they have a better appreciation for climbing SAFE.

I was placing a cam when leading a run-out route recently. I used the methods you taught me about gear placement while setting the protection. The cam placement held my 25 foot lead fall and none of my protection pulled out. I am sure what you taught me give me the skill to make a solid, perhaps life-saving placement. Thanks! Danny McCracken
Last December I went ice climbing in Ouray, Colorado, with the San Juan Mountain Guides. I enjoyed it so much that I would like to go ice climbing again. Since I live in North Carolina the guides in Ouray recommended that if I wanted to go ice climbing in the Appalachians Mountains, I should contact Fox Mountain Guides. Xavier Lacombe
Hi! I just got back from a wonderful weekend of climbing with Jenny Wallace at Looking Glass! She was an outstanding guide and made the weekend a lot of fun. The climbers in my group had various skill levels and she did an excellent job of making sure everyone was challenged even though we weren't climbing at the same level. Melissa was a lot of fun too! I plan on going back out with Jenny again as my guide.
I want to thank you for a great day of climbing yesterday. I think my climbing is really coming along since I’ve climbed with Fox Mountain Guides a few times. I wish I would have realized that I recently read an article of Majka’s in Climbing magazine. I would have enjoyed talking to her about this. I plan to try to get out with FMG a least once a month before my trip to Yosemite in June. Hopefully schedules and weather will permit. Thanks, Mike Heilman I just returned from my trip to Yosemite where I had 3 solid days of climbing. This was an awesome experience that defies description. The days that I climbed with you at Looking Glass and Table Rock, as well as the anchors course were great preparation for this trip. I continue to get more out of my climbing after climbing with Fox Mountain Guides. I look forward to climbing with you again. Thanks, Michael Heilman
Thank you very much for your time and talents in leading our expedition. Our two days with you were an incredible experience for a father and son and It created a fantastic memory that I know will last a lifetime. I can tell my Son absorbed every detail of the technique, the climbs, and your stories. We both appreciated the detailed and methodical approach you take to safety in every step of the experience. You have a real talent for balancing making it fun, teaching a tremendous amount of information, and instilling respect for the sport and the necessity for double and triple measures for safety. Adam, you are a special person and a great advocate for your sport. We wish you well in your business and hope that someday we will be fortunate enough that our paths with cross again. I would like to reiterate what John Barry told me about Adam Fox; "He is the REAL DEAL" and we are so thankful for our time together. All the Best, Rob and Trey Burdick
We had a VERY memorable and enjoyable time! You are a great guide, explaining not only what to do but WHY you do it. I'll have to tell you I learned more from you than I did with any of the guides from [name of local guide service removed!]. You should also write a book-Climbing for Dummies because you do a good job at explaining things!
We hope to get the kids out before winter. I have gotten a book on climbing in VA. One of the places close is Tunstall's Tooth which we'll have to wait on-it looks like it is only for multipitch climbing. It doesn't mention top-roping. Crabtree Falls is another one. It may have top-roping but I'm not sure. Thanks for all your help and the offer to ask questions! We'll take you up on it! Sandy Leach
“When I've climbed with Adam Fox as his client, he was right on time and worth the cash. He was a good read on ability, and knew what classics to head for given our locale, the weather, and the time of week. He got us up and down some great climbs like the Nose, etc., without a lot of fanfare or to do, just some entertaining British understatements relating to this or that epic from his past. Some guides are real yawners as they relate various climbing techniques, but I seemed to walk away from Adam without the typical glazed over stare. I absorbed a lot of helpful tips, and got a few more recommendations to boot. Thanks, Adam. Lyman Kiser
