called to schedule the Rock Climbing 101 Course. I then took the Single
Pitch Lead Course and then the ‘Master Class’ in December from Adam
himself. It's been the best money I've spent for climbing yet!"

Adam Fox, Owner, AMGA Certified Rock Guide

Originally from the United Kingdom,
Adam grew up in
the heart of the Peak District National Park climbing the local Grit and
Limestone. He started instructing and guiding in the U.K. in 1989 and
since then has climbed and guided in such places as Europe, Brazil,
Argentina, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and extensively in the U.K.
and U.S.A. Adam has been guiding in North Carolina since 1994 and now guides across the USA and Europe throughout the year based in Brevard, NC. He gained the highest level of rock certification in the US, the AMGA Rock Guide Certification in 2001. He is the National Discipline Coordinator for the AMGA's Single Pitch Instructor Program and also works for the AMGA teaching and examining higher level AMGA courses in the rock discipline as a member of the AMGA Instructor Pool. He is a member of the AMGA's Technical Committee and currently a member of the AMGA Board of Directors.
He holds a B.A. (Hons) in Outdoor Education from Derby University (England) is a Leave No Trace (LNT) Certified Trainer and has completed the AIRIE Level II Avalanche Course.
Ron Funderburke, Senior Guide, AMGA Certified Rock Instructor
Evident in his climbing, Ron is a southerner by birth, born and raised in the Carolinas. In his free time, Ron has climbed extensively in the east and proudly calls North Carolina the best rock climbing state this side of the Mississippi. He received his B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ron holds our Senior Guide position overseeing all FMG Guide training and weekly 'Professional Development Sessions' which are held 12 months of the year. He is an AMGA Certified Rock Instructor and successfully completed AMGA Rock Guide Course in April 2009 to become an Aspirant Rock Guide, but is not yet an AMGA Certified Rock Guide. He has also completed the AMGA Ice Instructor Course and is a Wilderness First Responder. Ron teaches most of our Technical Skills Courses and also the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Programs.
Karsten Delap, AMGA Certified Rock Guide
Originally from the flat lands of Indiana, Karsten Delap has found his obsession in the mountains. He has climbed extensively throughout the United States including Grade V big walls in The Black Canyon, Long's Peak, and Zion National Park. Karsten has also climbed many peaks over 17,000ft in Bolivia and Ecuador.
Karsten passed the AMGA Certified Rock Guide exam in April 2009 becoming the second Guide in the Southeast to achieve this certification. He has also successfully completed the AMGA Alpine Guides Course in May 2009 but is not yet an AMGA Certified Alpine Guide. He has also taken the AMGA Ice Instructor Course and is a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT), Leave No Trace Masters Educator and has completed the AIRIE Level II Avalanche Course.
Jeremiah Haas, AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor
Jeremiah Haas has been guiding for the past 8 years and holds a great passion for teaching and instructing in the wilderness. Jeremiah grew up in the woods of Wisconsin and has guided everything from backpacking, sea kayaking, canoeing, white water kayaking, rock and ice climbing. Jeremiah’s rock climbing experience includes areas out west such as Red Rocks NV and extensive climbing across NC. He also enjoys ice climbing in areas such as Colorado, the Northeast and NC. He is a current AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor and completed the AMGA Rock Instructor Course in North Carolina, April 2007 but is not yet an AMGA Certified Rock Instructor. He is a Wilderness First Responder and a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and holds a B.S. in Experiential Education. Jeremiah also teaches Rock Climbing at Clemson University.
Billy Day, AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor
Billy instructed at Rock Climbing Camps in the Northern NJ area for 4 years before moving to North Carolina to go to school at Warren Wilson College. He has taught climbing in the Southeast for various organizations including Blue Star Camps before working for Fox Mountain Guides and Climbing School. He is a current AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor and Wilderness First Responder. He holds a B.A. in Outdoor Leadership and a B.A. in Environmental Education from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC.
Lindsay Fixmer,
AMGA Certified Single Pitch
Instructor
Lindsay holds a BA in American Studies from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, is an AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor and completed the AMGA Rock Instructor Course in Colorado, May 2009 but is not yet an AMGA Certified Rock Instructor. She is also a Wilderness First Responder, and an AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor Provider.
Tracy Martin, AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor
Tracy has been climbing for 18 years and chooses to live near world class climbing areas, currently Asheville, NC. She has climbed throughout the United States, with a concentration of time in NC and WV and western states, including CA, CO, UT and WY . She also works with Keystone Camp, a girl’s camp in Brevard, NC, in the summer. She has a BFA from UNC Greensboro and also works as a graphic and fine artist all year round. Tracy is an AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor and completed the AMGA Rock Instructor Course in North Carolina, April 2009 but is not yet an AMGA Certified Rock Instructor. She is also a Wilderness First Responder.
Todd Mullenix, AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor
Todd grew up in Washington State
and began his climbing life in the Cascade Mountains. After graduating
high school he joined the United States Army and spent seven years as an
Airborne Infantryman. While stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina Todd
began rock climbing the cliffs of the Southeast in 1994. Todd has
completed a Bachelors Degree in Business Management with the University
of Phoenix. He lives near Marion with his wife and two kids. Todd is Director of Rock Climbing at Chimney Rock Park for Fox Mountain Guides. He is a current AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor and a North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate (EMT-I).

Chad Peele, AMGA Certified Alpine Guide, AMGA Certified Rock Guide
Chad Peele grew up in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where as a child and into early adulthood he started exploring and climbing in western N.C., Tennessee and Alabama. Currently he lives in the Front Range of Colorado with his wife and son. Chad became a member of the American Mountain Guides Association in 1996 and has since guided extensively throughout North and South America. Chad has been working as a guide in Alaska since 1996 as well, including guided ascents on Denali, the Ruth Gorge, Little Switzerland, and the Wrangell St. Elias Range where he has accomplished numerous first ascents. He has also traveled and guided The Mexican Volcanoes, Chile and Argentina including Aconcagua and into Patagonia. Chad is based in Boulder Colorado and works for Fox Mountain Guides as head guide for our international expeditions. He also guides for our North Carolina rock program whenever he is back in the State visiting his Family.
