December 2006:

December 5th

No reports, but ice forming today in Pisgah areas. Expected overnight lows of 28°.

December 6th

Roan Mountain Report from Jon:

Somewhat thin, but several top ropeable climbs off the road, up to 25 feet. Great ice bouldering

December 7th

Roan Mountain report from Jasyn:

Somewhat thin, but very sticky. Ice bouldering only. Only had two cars pass use from 7:30-10:30pm. Should form up much better with the cold air blast to the High Country. Will check out BLC saturday.

December 9th

Freezing here this morning in Pisgah with forecast cold temps tonight. No reports in yet of conditions in the forest.

Hwy 215 report from Jason:

Several lines were good enough for top roping, plenty of moisture and ice should continue to build nicely with the coming cold nights

December 10th

Big Lost Cove report from Jasyn:

Both climbs are currently in. Led "White Fang" and it was in good condition. Another party top roped "Paradise Lost." The ice might not stick around however, due to a warming trend in the High Country this week.

Whitesides report from  Stephen:

Starshine and Mother Russia were led on Saturday and though attempts were made to lead Yellow Belly and Cinderella, only Coyote Ugly was done on Sunday.

December 11th

Hogpen Gap Report from Jason:

Due to a temperature inversion the ice is melting quick. Was 18° in the valley and 35° on top of the mountain with melting ice. With the warm spell and rain coming in it might be gone this week.

December 13th

Hot in Pisgah today! 10 day forecast has highs in the low 70°s for Pisgah and overnight lows of upper 30°s low 50°s so nothing much on the horizon.
